About Barnstable
map
The Town of Barnstable was founded as a town in 1639 and is located in Barnstable County. Although a city government, the community wishes to be known as "The Town of Barnstable".

The town of Barnstable is made up of seven villages that include Centerville, Cotuit and Osterville all located on the south side, Barnstable and West Barnstable both located on the north side and Marstons Mills which is located on Route 28.

Visitors to Barnstable come from all around to see the beautiful beaches. Most popular of them all is Craigville Beach, a long sandy stretch of sand and ocean encompassing all of the natural beauty a beach on Cape Cod has to offer. Visitors enjoy touring the John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum along with several shopping malls in the Hyannis area.

INTRO TO CCDART and EMERGENCY ANIMAL SHELTERING

Intro to CCDART and regional emergency animal sheltering is a two day (9-5) weekend training course that educates potential emergent volunteers and responders to the regional emergency co-sheltering(human and pet) plan in Barnstable County and the various organizations that participate to bring about its success, also there will be discussions on who CCDART is and what our role on the BCREPC (Barnstable County Regional Emergency Planning Committee ) is.

In addition we will be discussing personal human and pet preparedness and "go-kits", radio communications, shelter design and set up, registration and a hands on MOCK Drill where all the newly acquired skills can and will be utilized. This is a hands-on training and participation will be required on both days.

There is a one time 25.00 donation(cash only) for the weekend and included in that fee is training materials, certificate of completion and light snacks and lunch fare and water , tea and coffee. The 25.00 is non-refundable and is due upon entrance Saturday am- cash only. Pre-registration is required for this training. There is no commitment to join CCDART after this training-however students will be given the opportunity to join the team upon completion and may do so at their convenience anytime within a year of the training. Students who complete this training will be considered potential "Emergent Volunteers" and will be called upon in times of natural disaster here on Cape Cod.
